I've set myself the goal of learning a new programming language today; learning Ruby! It's quite a simple language with a python-like syntax crossed partially with C. It's certainly a refreshing change; hence why I've continued learning it. However, I can't say that there are many reasons to learn it as it's not really as popular as the other leading programming languages and it's not particularly diverse in functionality.
I shall continue to learn Ruby for about a week and see where I stand; perhaps I shall find that it's simply not worth continuing my learning much further. As long as I can understand the basics of the language; I don't see a purpose in learning advanced functionality that could be translated into time into learning other useful and more impactful programming languages.
Feel free to check out my GitHub repository where I'm putting most of my Ruby class files whilst I learn the basics.
